The twelfth edition of the Harmony International Choral Festival was held from 8th to 10th June 2018 in the concert hall of the Druzhba 1870 Community Center Harmanli. Nine choir groups with 300 performers from 4 countries took part in the music event. For the first time, the scene in Harmanli welcomed participants from distant Finland.
The festival was solemnly opened on 8 June at 18:00 hours by the Mayor of Harmanli. The first who came out on the stage were the guests from Choir Katajanmarjat - Pori, Finland, conductor Mira Vassileva who conquer the audience with the fervor of their performances and the enormously accurate performance of two songs by Bulgarian composers in Bulgarian. After them were the performances of Choir of the music scool – Burgas, Bulgaria, conductor Aneta Dragneva-Danailova and Choir Emelia - Patra, Greece, conductor Albena Penkova. The program of the day ended with the performances of Mixed choir Jon Vidu - Lugoj, Romania, conductor prof. dr. Lucian Oniţa which the audience applauded for a long time.
The second day of the festival started with the performances of the hosts from Harmanli town - Mixed choir Slawej, conductor Mladen Stanev, after them Chamber choir Canto nova – Sofia, Bulgaria, conductor Evgeni Mirev; Mixed choir Nea Redestos - Termi, Greece, conductor Eleftheria Metaxa; Chamber choir Ivan Spasov – Plovdiv, Bulgaria, conductor Gergana Lyutskanova-Petrova and Mixed choir Tagarades - Thessaloniki, Greece, conductor Eleftheria Metaxa presented themselves. All performances were met exclusively warm by the competent audience.
The festival was closed on Sunday (June 10th) from 10:00 with performances of sacral music from Chamber choir Canto nova – Sofia and Choir Ivan Spasov – Plovdiv in the “St. Ivan Rilski “ Church - Harmanli.
